 Congratulations to the Kilkenny City Macra team who came third in the National Question time in Waterford.  They were leading coming into the last round and were pipped to finish 3rd. There were 30 teams from around the country competing on the night. On behalf of the county I would like to say well done and congratulations to Mary Brennan on winning a National Leadership Award!!! Kilkenny Macra would be lost without her! Mary has made an incredible impact on both Kilkenny City Macra and to Kilkenny Macra and is an inspiration to the rest of the county!

The two Kilkenny representatives in the National Question Time

Kilkenny City Black-Tie Ball 12 February 2011.  The 40^th annual Kilkenny City Black -Tie Ball was held on Saturday night, the 12^th of February, in the luxurious four star Ormonde Hotel in Kilkenny city centre. This premier event is one of the highlights of the Kilkenny social calendar and is organised and hosted by Kilkenny City Macra na Feirme.  The evening kicked off with a mulled wine reception for the 240 guests who were in attendance. The guests who travelled from all over Ireland must be commended for the style and elegance they brought to the event as evidenced by the photographs..  The delicious four course banquet was followed by an evening of dancing to music by the infamous Lebowski. The shoes were kicked off and bow-ties discarded as the dance floor filled and the guests danced the night away. There were many tired feet by the end of the night and in the early hours of Valentines morning Cupid played his part and romance was truly in the air as new friendships and relationships were formed.  A good night was had by all and we all now look forward to the 4^1st annual Kilkenny City Black -Tie Ball with great expectations.  Congratulations to the prizewinners on the night (winner of the midweek break sponsored by the Ormonde hotel – Tom Dunne Callan, Co Kilkenny, winner of the €200 voucher sponsored by Grooms menswear Noel Duffy, Ferbane, Co Offaly and winner of the €100 voucher of the KO Spa sponsored by the Ormonde Hotel Avril Reilly, Kilkenny). . The organising committee would like to thank all who helped make the night a huge success.

There are three vice-presidents (Munster, Leinster and North West).  The Macra president and vice-presidents carry out a two year term so 2011 is a Macra election year. The candidates for this years National Presidential Elections are Alan Jagoe (Cork Macra), Dara Kavanagh (Wicklow Macra) and Tommy Dolan (Carlow Macra) pictured with Mary Brennan (chairperson Kilkenny City Macra) and Fionan Brennan (president Kilkenny City Macra).

Winners of the Kilkenny Karting Competition are Mark Comerford - 2nd - Liam Comerford - Winner - and Fionan Brennan - 3rd.  All the winners were representing Kilkenny City Macra.  Congratulations to the three boys!!
